- Transfer guru discusses Manchester United’s recruitment strategy
- Primary focus will be on midfield
- Other areas will be explored too this summer
Manchester United are gearing up for what looks to be one of the busiest yet most important transfer windows in recent memory.
Heavy discourse has been around who the Reds will buy to replace the departing Casemiro. One less problem is Kobbie Mainoo signing a contract. Whoever arrives this summer will be partnering with the 21-year-old in the starting eleven.
Now, it has been revealed that central midfield is not the only area that INEOS will be looking to reinforce over the summer.

Romano Provides Transfer Update
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano highlighted that United fans should look beyond the centre of the park when it comes to potential arrivals.
He said: “I think it’s going to be an important, exciting summer for United with Michael Carrick as future coach.” This statement highlights the change in direction at the helm.
The 44-year-old is expected to be offered a two-year deal to sign on as permanent head coach. It follows an impressive interim spell, with just two games to go.
All eyes will be on the weekend’s game against Nottingham Forest, where the tradition is for the man in charge to speak to the home crowd for the final time this season. Whether Carrick will have been confirmed as the permanent head coach is another factor to contend in his speech.
The Italian journalist continued: “Keep an eye on left-back, also on the offensive position, there could be some movements there.”

“Exciting Summer” Ahead
The mention of the left-back position will come as little surprise to the United faithful, as Luke Shaw is the only recognised player in that position. Tyrell Malacia will depart this summer, and Patrick Dorgu is now seen as more of a winger. This means that the inexperienced Harry Amass is the only natural contender for the position next season as it stands.
The remark by Romano on “offensive positions” is an interesting one, as he does not point out a specific position. United forked out heavy money on Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko and Bryan Mbuemo last summer. The Reds will require depth in attack as they return to Champions League football.
The poor form of Amad Diallo and Mbuemo is a harsh reminder that contingency plans are required. The squad currently lacks a natural number nine as an alternative to Sesko, which could be what Romano was subtly pointing towards.
As the season draws to a close, the Carrick era and a foolproof recruitment strategy could offer hope for fans. If Romano’s “exciting summer” comes to fruition, Manchester United could be an equipped force to reckon with in England and in Europe come August.
