- Man Utd interest in Mateus Mane grows
- Wolves star is available for low fee
- Michael Carrick wants a new left winger
Manchester United‘s interest in Mateus Mane appears to be growing, and the Wolverhampton Wanderers winger could be available for a reasonable price. The youngster has shone at Molineux despite his club’s terrible season, which has ended in relegation.
According to Shaun Connolly of Theatre of Red, the club’s officials “remain impressed” by the 18-year-old. He has become a key player in Rob Edwards’ team, posting three goals and two assists in 26 league games.
Mane appears to be headed for the exit door due to Wolves being sent down to the EFL Championship. He is one of the most promising young wingers in the English game and United are fans.

Man Utd continue to eye Mane
It’s said that United view Mane as a “smart” and “low-cost” option to bolster the left wing. Wolves could part with the player for around £25-30m. That fee is surely enticing the Reds who are eager to add a new wideman to Michael Carrick’s squad.
Carrick himself admitted that signing a new left winger is “definitely something to look at.” That was before he was set as the permanent head coach, with the club expected to confirm it in the coming days.
Matheus Cunha has become Carrick’s starting left winger and has been one of his best performers. The Brazilian lacked cover during Patrick Dorgu’s three-month absence with a hamstring injury.
Mane is an exciting winger who gets fans on their feet with his pace and dribbling. He has shown maturity beyond his years, becoming one of the most important players for Wolves.
A solution
At such a reasonable price, it makes so much sense for United to swoop for Mane. He’s still young and thus would likely be prepared to take a rotational spot in the squad.
Cunha’s form has been impressive since Carrick returned to the Old Trafford dugout, but he can’t play every game next season. While Dorgu is another option, he hasn’t returned to the level of performance he put in at the turn of the year since his injury.
Spending an extortionate fee on a big name such as Morgan Rogers or Yan Diomande would eat into United’s transfer budget. The main focus this summer is on overhauling a midfield that will lose Casemiro and most likely Manuel Ugarte.
