- Man Utd eyeing Tyler Adams
- Bournemouth value him at around £40m
- American must not be the top midfield signing
Manchester United’s midfield rebuild might see them swoop for Bournemouth’s Tyler Adams. The Cherries star is one of many midfielders on the club’s shortlist.
According to Laurie Whitwell of The Athletic, United are in touch to understand how much Adams will cost. The American has enjoyed a fine season at the Vitality Stadium.
Adams has made 24 appearances across competitions, registering two goals and as many assists. The 27-year-old has been with the South Coast outfit since the summer of 2023.

Man Utd learn Tyler Adams price
Whitwell claims that Bournemouth might value Adams at around £40m. That fee is more than reasonable for a player who is catching the eye and has much-needed Premier League experience.
We’ve seen just how beneficial it is to sign players who have proven themselves in the English game. Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo have been excellent signings and they were brought to the club by INEOS off the back of their exploits at Wolverhampton Wanderers and Brentford.
Adams shouldn’t be United’s main midfield signing, but certainly, he’d be a good addition to the squad. Casemiro needs to be replaced and a big-money arrival such as Elliot Anderson or Aurelien Tchouameni must be the solution.
Manuel Ugarte could also make way this summer amid a nightmare spell at Old Trafford. If Adams were to arrive as the Uruguayan’s replacement, that would be a perfect plan.
Adams is a defensive midfielder who has excelled under Andoni Iraola. He is accomplished on the ball and could add strong depth to a United midfield crying out for more options and different profiles.
A midfield rebuild
An ideal summer would see United sign three new central midfielders, and one of those should be a high-profile name. Anderson or Tchouameni are dream signings, but there are many obstacles standing in the way of bringing either of them to the Theatre of Dreams.
Adams probably lands on the list of second midfield targets because of his value and status in the game. That could mean he is considered a Mateus Fernandes alternative, with Fernandes also on the Reds’ wishlist.
If it’s a choice between those two, £70m-rated Fernandes is the more glamorous acquisition, although the defensive side of his game needs work. That’s why Adams might be ideal for Michael Carrick’s squad: he is a holding midfielder a level above Ugarte.
