Man Utd World Cup 2026 Player Data: Diogo Dalot
  • Diogo Dalot named in Portugal’s World Cup squad
  • Man Utd defender could be a starter
  • Dalot’s country have never won the tournament

Diogo Dalot is headed to the World Cup with Portugal this summer and he’ll be looking to help his country win the tournament for the first time in their history. The Manchester United right-back joins Bruno Fernandes in Roberto Martinez’s squad.

The United defender has been a key man for Michael Carrick this season, putting in important performances. He has been a regular for his nation over the years and looks likely to be a starter for the biggest competition in world football.

The 27-year-old has already earned 33 caps for Selecao das Quinas, and three of those came in the 2022 World Cup. He is a member of a star-studded squad that will be captained by Cristiano Ronaldo in probably his last hurrah for the Portuguese.

Diogo Dalot World Cup

Portugal begin their World Cup in Group K and first encounter DR Congo on June 17th. The two-time UEFA Nations League winners are also preparing for clashes with Uzbekistan on June 23rd and Colombia on June 28th.

Dalot was a mainstay in Martinez’s team for the World Cup qualifying campaign and will be keen to continue as a starter in the USA, Canada and Mexico. His displays in the second half of the season with United may well earn him that goal.
