Lewandowski joins Man Utd and three other shock transfers that will occur
  • Man Utd need to sign Robert Lewandowski
  • Three other big transfers that must take place
  • A shock high-profile sale

Robert Lewandowski should be one of the biggest signings Manchester United make this summer. The legendary Polish striker will be available, as he will be leaving Barcelona when his contract expires.

The 37-year-old is set to become a free agent, and he is the ideal frontman to bring to Old Trafford. He’s at an age where a lack of a guaranteed starting role wouldn’t frustrate him, and he might relish helping Benjamin Sesko continue to develop into a top number nine.

Signing a new forward to help ease the goalscoring burden on Sesko is just one of many objectives INEOS must achieve this summer. There are other transfers, both in and out of the club that will go a long way in helping build a squad ready to compete for major trophies under Michael Carrick.

Man Utd sign Lewandowski

Lewandowski nearly joined United back in 2014, but instead headed to Bayern Munich from Borussia Dortmund. It was at the Allianz Arena where he became one of the greatest marksman the game has ever seen.

Such has been his prolific consistency in front of goal that Barca swooped for his signature at the age of 33. He has continued to find the back of the net with ease, and this season has managed 13 goals in 31 games.

With Joshua Zirkzee’s future uncertain amid a frustrating spell at United, it’s a no-brainer to sell the Dutch attacker and move for Lewandowski on a free. His best days may be behind him, but he is still extremely dangerous in front of goal.

Ugarte sold for decent price

Manuel Ugarte’s departure from United seems inevitable at this stage, and the Uruguayan midfielder will probably be keen to depart. He arrived from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2024 for £50m and has faltered ever since.

Fabrizio Romano reports that the club have informed the player’s camp that they want to sell him this summer. As brutal as that might be, it’s the right decision given his poor performances.

Getting a fee anywhere near the price the Reds paid for him is practically impossible. But it wouldn’t be a massive surprise if INEOS are able to negotiate a fee around £35m, which would be a brilliant piece of business.

Tchouameni arrives as Casemiro replacement

While Elliot Anderson is the top target for the club, the Nottingham Forest midfielder clearly has his sights set on joining Manchester City. Surely it’s time to shift focus and devote all efforts to replacing Casemiro with Aurelien Tchouameni.

Of the midfield pair, Tchouameni is probably the better profile to take the heroic Brazilian’s spot in midfield. He did just that at Real Madrid when he moved to the Santiago Bernabeu the same summer United signed the 34-year-old.

Tchouameni has been involved in behind-the-scenes controversy at the Spanish capital club. Altercations with Federico Valverde saw him fined, and that could work in the Reds’ favour as they reportedly will swoop should he indicate he’d be open to the move.

Big name departure

It’s quite easy to put Marcus Rashford’s name down as the biggest outgoing this summer. But there is a chance a high-profile name currently a member of Carrick’s first-team squad departs.

Amad Diallo’s dip in form since the African Cup of Nations has been a concern. The Ivorian winger had been a standout performer during Ruben Amorim’s reign but he has struggled this year.

There has been some talk over Amad potentially being sold. A return to former loanee club Sunderland has been touted as one potential destination if the 23-year-old were to make way.
