- Man Utd want to sign Elliot Anderson
- Nottingham Forest midfielder on Man City radar
- Fan urges him to choose United over City
Elliot Anderson has been advised to snub Manchester City and join Manchester United this summer. The Nottingham Forest midfielder is on both Manchester clubs’ radars.
The English star put in another eye-catching performance despite ending up on the losing side on Sunday. United beat his Forest team 3-2 at Old Trafford.
The 23-year-old came up with two assists to take his tally for the season to four goals and as many assists in 37 league games. He is the Red Devils’ ideal candidate to replace the departing Casemiro.

Fan sends message to Man Utd target Anderson
As Anderson exited Old Trafford, he walked past United fans who were kept away via a guard rail. One supporter took the chance to urge the former Newcastle United man to sign with the club and not rivals City:
“Elliot sign the contract. See you on June 1st. Don’t go to City man. Don’t go to that soulless club. This is a real club.”
Anderson took no notice but the fan could easily be heard. He echoes the sentiment of many of the Old Trafford faithful who are dreaming of him partnering Kobbie Mainoo in midfield.
Reports suggest that Anderson prefers a move to City, and he is expected to make that switch rather than join Michael Carrick’s side. He could cost over £100m, but fortunately, he isn’t the only midfielder on the club’s wishlist.
Vitor Pereira on Anderson’s future
While Anderson does appear increasingly likely to be on the move this summer, Forest won’t make life easy for both Manchester clubs. The Tricky Trees want a huge fee to part with the player and they have the advantage of there being three years on his contract.
Speaking after his side’s defeat to United, Vitor Pereira responded to speculation over Anderson’s future. He told Sky Sports:
“This is an answer I don’t have. The market is the market, and anything can happen. The club wants to keep him playing for us, for sure.”
Anderson joined Forest from boyhood club Newcastle in the summer of 2024 for £35m. He has become a key man for the Tricky Trees and looks certain to be included in England’s squad for the World Cup.
United intend to replace Casemiro with a high-profile name and Mainoo’s compatriot fits the bill. Real Madrid’s Aurelien Tchouameni is an alternative, although there’s no indication he wants to leave the La Liga giants.
