  • Gary Neville gives fans headaches on commentary
  • Time for him to be taken off former club’s games

Gary Neville is past the point of no return and can’t be allowed to continue commentating on Manchester United games. The club’s former captain has become insufferable and his reaction to Matheus Cunha’s goal against Nottingham Forest was simply ridiculous.

United retook the lead through Cunha in the 54th minute when the Brazilian guided the ball into Matz Sels’ bottom corner. The goal came controversially as Bryan Mbeumo appeared to control the ball with his arm before the strike.

VAR intervened and advised referee Michael Salisbury to review the incident on the pitchside monitor. He decided that the goal should stand because Mbeumo’s handball was “accidental.”

Neville fumes over Cunha goal

That didn’t go down well with Neville, who didn’t just disagree with the decision; he went off on a good five-minute criticism. He first said on Sky Sports: “There is a clear handball. I would be surprised if this stands.”

Neville then gave the view of Forest players: “The Forest players were going mad and I would be furious if that stood. Honestly, I just don’t think that’s a goal. It is a clear handball. They have to intervene here.”

As if fans weren’t aware of his stance he hit out at Salisbury’s call: “That is a shocker in every way.”

Neville wouldn’t let it go and kept offering his thoughts even after the game and Forest players had moved on. His constant bickering became a hard listen and it’s just one of many times this season he’s tried to be anti-United.

The pundit who made 602 appearances for the club has leaned into a more impartial commentary style this season. He comes across as extremely fake, and fans have had enough.

“Pathetic” – Fans hit out at Neville

United supporters have lost patience with Neville and feel he’s no longer attached to the club. It’s all well and good being an impartial commentator but trying to be unbiased by criticising the Reds at every given moment is simply unacceptable.

That’s the verdict of every member of the Old Trafford faithful now. One fan on X wrote: “They need to take Gary Neville off Man Utd games. It’s an awful listen.”

One added: “Gary Neville is being an absolute disgrace on commentary.”

Another wrote: “Gary Neville you aren’t sly. It’s handball x20 times. We get it you don’t want the goal to stand. Strange bloke.

One said: “Gary Neville fuming bc United’s goal didn’t get disallowed?”

Another wrote: “Gary Neville shouldn’t be commenting United games. He is too biased and he can’t hide it. Absolutely hates the club, manager, and players at United.”

One added: “Listen to Gary Neville begging for this to be disallowed. Does he honestly not hear himself? The guy is pathetic.”

At this point, most United fans would prefer Jamie Carragher to call our games. Neville’s clear agenda just cannot continue for supporters paying their hard-earned money to watch the club on Sky Sports.
