- Kobbie Mainoo named in England’s World Cup squad
- Man Utd star eager to make history with Three Lions
- Red Devils midfielder enjoyed a breakout Euro 2024 campaign
Kobbie Mainoo will be hoping to have a similar impact for England at this summer’s World Cup as the one that saw him impress at Euro 2024. The Manchester United star has been named in Thomas Tuchel’s squad for the tournament.
The Red Devils’ star boy had fought hard for his place in the squad after overcoming a lack of game time under Ruben Amorim. Michael Carrick’s appointment turned the tide for the United academy graduate, and he has played his way back into the national team.
Mainoo is pushing to be a starter in the USA, Canada and Mexico, although he has heavy competition. He’s earned 12 caps for the Three Lions ahead of the biggest competition in world football.

Kobbie Mainoo’s World Cup
England start their World Cup campaign in Group L against Croatia on June 17th. The Three Lions then collide with Ghana on June 23rd, a special occasion for Mainoo, who is of Ghanaian descent.
Tuchel’s final group game is against Panama on June 27th. That should be a relatively easy fixture and the nation beat the North American minnows 6-1 at the 2018 World Cup.
