- Amad Diallo shined in Man Utd victory against Brighton
- Fans on social media impressed by winger’s performance
- Ivorian provided assist in incredible team goal
Manchester United cruised to a 3-0 win against Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday afternoon in the final Premier League game of the season.
Goals from Patrick Dorgu, Bryan Mbuemo and Bruno Fernandes capped off a strong finish to the season, which sees United finish in third place. The win featured a surprisingly strong starting eleven from United boss Michael Carrick, despite having nothing to play for in the final fixture.
The victory came to the benefit of stepping into the summer strongly. Moreover, the rediscovery of Amad Diallo’s confidence was a highlight. The winger has endured a tough personal campaign in red colours.

Amad Performance Draws Plaudits on X
United fans on the social media platform X were buzzing over Amad’s performance during the victory. The Ivorian registered his first goal contribution since he hit the back of the net against AFC Bournemouth in December under Ruben Amorim. His last assist was even further back in time, against Spurs on 8 November.
Reacting to Bryan Mbuemo’s goal, one fan on X said: “Amad has had a tough time of late – delighted to see him playing well and playing a big part in that goal.” Another user said: “This is the Amad I’m familiar with”.
The Cameroonian has also had a surge in form over the last two games. He, too, fell into the same rut of form that Diallo suffered from after returning from AFCON. It prompted a fan to ask: “Is this the Amad/Mbeumo redemption arc?” Elsewhere, other users described the 23-year-old’s display as “phenomenal” and “so cold”.

Return of Confidence Bodes Well for World Cup and Next Season
Some fans were even more optimistic about the performance, suggesting it could be the platform for something greater. As one fan ambitiously said: “Have a strong World Cup and kick on for the title charge next season.”
The former Atalanta winger will be travelling to North America next month to feature in the 2026 World Cup with the Ivory Coast. There is a strong hope that an extended run to the season will bring back Diallo’s hunger. In recent months, he has looked devoid of the directness and trickery that set him apart from the rest of the pack last season.
Games against Germany, Curacao and Ecuador provide the perfect blend of opposition to test and trial his confidence. An in-form Amad will be much needed for the 2026/27 campaign as United ventures into European football, particularly the Champions League, for the first time since 2023/24.
